TMU provides one of the best platforms in Taiwan for high-quality clinical training and insights into the country’s world-renowned healthcare system. The TMU Short-term Medical Electives Program is a training program available from two weeks to eight weeks. The instructional language will be English.
The clinical rotation date of application is open now.
NOTICE
** We only provide official permission documents for those country students with Visa-Exempt Entry.
** Students need to wear a white coat while in the hospital. Please bring your own White coat !!
if there is any question please inform us before you arrive, we provide for the white coat NTD$600 /per.

The minimal length of stay in each clinical department is one week.
The total minimum training period is two weeks, and the maximum is eight weeks. (2024.3)
We only receive medical students in the last two years of their studies. Graduates and clinical professionals are not eligible for the TMU Short-term Medical Electives Program. For non-native English speakers, proof of English language proficiency is required for application.
Our program requires students to have completed General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Pediatrics prior to applying.
The training fee is US$150 per week. It is subject to change upon further notice from the hosting hospitals. Students of the College of Medicine partner institutions are entitled to waive fees. Please check for the partner institutions list
Students enrolling in medical electives should seek their own accommodation. We will only recommend the nearby hostel for students to book bu themselves.

Am I an eligible applicant?
For Medical Electives, we only receive medical students in the final two years of their studies, provided that they have undertaken proper clinical training prior to their arrival to TMU healthcare system. Medical electives are only offered to students who are studying with a university at the time of their stay at TMU Healthcare System. Graduates/clinical professionals are not eligible candidates for Medical Electives.
How long is the program?
According to local regulation, the maximum length of time you can spend in one site is 8 weeks. The minimal length of stay for each department is one week. All rotation starts on Monday. National holidays apply and candidates will receive further notice confirming their course schedule.
How much do I pay for my training?
The training fee is 150 USD per week. It’s subject to change upon further notice from TMU’s affiliated hospitals. Students of TMU’s partner institutions are entitled to a fee waiver. Please contact the International Office of your university or com@tmu.edu.tw if you have any questions.
When should I submit my application documents?
Applications are jointly reviewed by TMU College of Medicine and its affiliated hospitals. It is recommended to submit your application at least 3 to 6 months prior to your intended starting date to allow sufficient lead time.
