【Special Announcement】The 7th Tang Prize Youth Forum (2026): Dialogue with Biopharmaceutical Science Laureate Dr. Carl June

This year’s Tang Prize in Biopharmaceutical Science shines a spotlight on “Cellular Immunotherapy”—a revolutionary field that has rewritten the history of cancer treatment. Among the laureates, Dr. Carl H. June, co-pioneer of CAR-T cell therapy, stands as a central figure who successfully propelled cell therapy from basic research to global clinical application.

Addressing the major bottleneck of scaling up ex vivo cell production, Dr. June pioneered the “anti-CD3/CD28 magnetic bead expansion technology,” establishing the standardized manufacturing process for CAR-T therapy worldwide. He also co-developed the incorporation of the 4-1BB co-stimulatory domain, significantly enhancing T-cell proliferation and long-term persistence within the human body. Subsequently, he led the pivotal CD19 CAR-T clinical trials, bringing long-term remission to patients with relapsed and refractory hematologic malignancies such as leukemia. His groundbreaking work paved the way for Kymriah, the world’s first FDA-approved CAR-T therapy in 2017, permanently transforming the landscape of modern oncology.

It is our greatest honor to invite Tang Prize Laureate Dr. Carl H. June to share his insights in person! He will dive deep into this revolutionary field—exploring how gene editing transforms into living, dynamic drugs to precisely target tumors, repair genetic defects, and combat autoimmune diseases. Furthermore, through this cross-generational academic dialogue, Dr. June will engage directly with young scholars and students, guiding us to explore the brilliant future of cell and gene therapy together.

This is an extraordinary opportunity. We warmly invite all faculty, researchers, and students to register and witness the forefront of biopharmaceutical innovation!
