TMU Hospital was founded in 1976 with no Cardiovascular Surgery specialties at first. In 1998, with the help from the director of the newly established thoracic surgery department in WanFang Hospital, we started building the discipline of cardiovascular surgery. With the addition of Dr. Nai-Wen Tsao and Professor Jeng Wei in 2008, the discipline started to expand rapidly. Currently among the Cardiovascular Surgery division of the three affiliated hospitals, there are a total of ten visiting staffs, seven extracorporeal technicians , four nurse practitioner, and to examination room technicians. Our main development goals are heart transplant, VAD, minimal invasive cardiac surgery, and transcatheter aortic valve implantation surgery, etc.
