Application forms	According to the Regulations of each Institution, applications may include: A motivation letter One letter of reference Copies of all university-level diplomas Up-to-date authenticated transcripts with results of previous university-level courses Official documentation from the student’s current university confirming they are enrolled and expected to finalize their ongoing course before starting at partner institution. All documents should be written or officially translated to English. – In addition, all students are expected to have an acceptable skill-level in spoken and written (scientific) English. An appropriate knowledge of English can also be demonstrated through internationally recognized qualifications (e.g. IELTS). European level B2, or equivalent, will be required.

Program introduction	The PhD programme involves 28 professors, 16 from the biology area and 12 from the chemistry area, with multidisciplinary expertise: in biochemistry, pharmacology, genetics and microbiology, aimed at studies in biomedical fields; expertise in zoology, biological anthropology, ecology aimed at environmental biology studies (marine, animal and human); expertise in organic chemistry, pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical technologies aimed at pharmaceutical development studies. As a student in our PhD program, you will need to demonstrate the ability to carry out independent research leading to a significant advance of knowledge in your area of study. The results should be of a very high quality, usually leading to 2-3 lead-author publications in highly respected journals.
Career perspective	As a graduate student in the Microbiology and Immunology graduate program at Dal, you will focus primarily on research. You will have the opportunity to aggressively pursue an independent research project, which will provide the foundation for your graduate thesis.

Program introduction	The Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences(GIMS) offers master and doctoral degrees and is divided into four subprograms including (1) Biochemistry/Cellular and Molecular Biology (MCMB), (2) Cellular Physiology/Neuroscience Science (CPNS), (3) Molecular Pharmacology (MP) and (4) Microbiology/Immunology (MI). There are total 78 faculties in GIMS including full-time professors and joint professors. As matter the fact, GIMS is a research-oriented institution and provides multidisciplinary research in medicine. GIMS has established several research teams dealing with particular diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis, cancers, neurodegeneration, stem cells and cell therapy, inflammatory diseases and infectious diseases.
